I got stock of this DVD on Friday and finally added it to my website for ordering. If you are going to be at the #Trax reunion I recommend you e-mail me and I'll bring a copy for you so you can save a few bucks.

In other news I tried the DVD in my Panasonic RP-56 NTSC DVD player and NO it doesn't work. I'm going to try it in a couple PAL DVD players we have to see if it is the DVD (no AUDIO_TS directory as someone stated) or it is due to the DVD being PAL--which my SW DVD player detected. Since it is region free you won't have a problem watching the video on your PC but not on your home, NTSC, DVD player.

More after I check.

Glad to see there is some demand Smile

The Euro went up against the dollar and they raised the price on the DVD this year so cost went from $16 for ASM'02 to $20 for ASM'03.

I verified that you will need a PAL DVD player (or one that can do multi-region) to watch the video DVD on your TV.

Thanks for ordering and I hope to see your BBS Documentary available soon.

Omg are you serious? I can't believe that they would have region coded this disc, what a disaster, the only reason I bought it was to watch stuff on the TV (I actually traveled from the US to Finland for Assembly '03)...I can understand if it's just a PAL thing though, but different NTSC or PAL options would have been nice...or they could have just told someone it was PAL before purchasing!!! But I know for a fact that AUDIO_TS thing is a problem as is so there are MANY players that wouldn't play it either way...

I'm going to try to see what I can fudge with a DVD-RW this weekend on my friend's box...

It isn't region coded. In fact a scan showed no region coding and no encyrption. I tested it in two "hacked" DVD players: Philips Q50 and CyberHome and it worked in both. When I said "multi-region" I meant NTSC/PAL support rather than region encoding. To play this DVD your player needs to support PAL and ideally you want your output device to support PAL since a PAL to NTSC conversion by the DVD player might not look so good. All the LCD TV's and Projectors made (unless you have a POS) will support PAL for the lucky few who have these devices.

I didn't listen for audio so, it is possible there is no sound but I suspect if it played at all you'll have both video and sound.

Thanks dmw, right after I originally posted I noticed I misread your note and that it in fact wasn't region coded...

So I did some experiments this weekend...first was to just put in AUDIO_TS...of course since it is PAL this was of little help to my poor DVD player (Samsung N501 NUON woot)

Sooo I began the long arduous pain in the behind process of converting PAL->NTSC... NOT FUN! In fact after a few hours of decoding, recoding, miscoding, I finally managed to get TMPGEnc and AVISynth into such a state that TMPGEnc would just keep crashing out of windows. Such a shame, I was 90% of the way done. I gave up after getting a headache from troubleshooting a program that crashed for no reason, and since it was on my friend's box and I don't have a DVD-R of my own, who knows when I will get to it again....

Btw, if anyone wants to give the conversion a shot, the tools you need (or at least what I used) are DVD2AVI, AVISynth, and TMPGEnc (and a DVD-R with tools to author of course)

Well, I should have said "multi-standard" rather than region.

Anyway, I'll check with Jim to see if he wants to try his hand at conversion/experimenting. He may not have the time but we are going to have to do the same thing with our DVD so eventually we will take on this challenge.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the XVID video clips on disc 2. In that they are bing displayed upsidedown in my media players. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks for bringing it to T10Y btw. So far what I've seen is very nice.

Which codec are you using? Try one of these:

http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml

If the newer pre-1.0 version is causing you trouble, try an older one.

I've now got the ASM'03 DVD online at Scenestuff.com - 10 copies for a start.
