The past couple of months haven't been well for the board.
First a "bot" out there was going to PHPBB boards like this and posting internet SPAM. Like they do for guestbooks. I added a fake user to hopefully block the bot and it hasn't been back.
Next was an attack. Basically someone must have hacked out my password or used a back door and deleted all the forums (SQL database) and really messed things up. I had the database restored from early March so we only lost a few postings.
Hopefully we are back to running normally again without any more hacks, bots, or disturbances. After such my recommendation would be to back up every so often.

I've got the board updated to latest phpBB version: 2.0.14.
I still need to fix a few items but hopefully some of those major security flaws and potential hacks are now gone.
