Several years ago one of those prime time news shows (I believe Prime Time Live) did a story about the grocery chain Food Lion. They showed people repackaging meat, fish, etc. Often combining the outdated meat with new meat. Perhaps that is part of the reason behind the very low prices? Food Lion's stock dropped like a rock, they tried to sue Prime Time and of course denied any wrong doing. Stuff like this probably happens more often then we think.

I remember that -- it's true. Prime Time did a long investigation and they got all kinds of stuff on hidden cameras. Food Lion lost that lawsuit, as I recall, because everything reported was true. You can't sue for defamation if they're telling the truth! |
