i'm interested in knowing what you guys are going to do with the extra vertical lines of resolution in PAL demos when you master the NTSC DVD.
are you just going to crop the image and throw the lines away, or are you going to resize the image to retain all lines of resolution at the expense of "shrinking" the image horizontally? |

The latter (resize). There are two reasons cropping isn't legit:
- It throws away picture info
- Even if it doesn't throw away info (like a "widescreen" demo), the resulting aspect ratio is visibly off
We're actually going to do more than just resizing and time interpolation; for particularly icky parts, I'm going to try to clip sections out and synthesize a new framerate based on motion vectors.[/list] |
