DVD Creation – Useful fonts
and important links
(lnitial Edit v1.0:
I will come
back and edit this from time to time but in the meantime I wanted to provide
some links and some material I found very useful for the “Mindcandy”
DVD project I worked on.
Logo Fonts:
I searched
the net like hell to find logos for DVDs. It seems no one provides them or if
they do they are very tough to find on a search engine. Every DVD pressed has
to pay royalties (2-3 cents or so) for that DVD logo so you can use that free
of charge, so, why not.
I’m not
sure where I found these fonts but it must have been from the “Artist
Development Associates, Inc.” Need DVD
logo, CDROM logo, Super Audio CD logo, NTSC logo, PAL logo, Mac logo, DTS logo,
or Dolby Logo then this might be just the thing you are looking for. Finally
right? That is exactly what I said to myself.
Do keep in
mind you can NOT use some logos like Dolby Digital without signing a licensing
agreement with them and following their logo guidelines. It is AMAZING how many products out there
violate their specification. I’m sure DTS is the same way and so on. If you are
doing a DVD or CDROM you already pay the royalties when you press the media so
you have a right to use these logos.
If anyone
believes I am in violation of copyrights by posting these fonts please let me
know and I will remove them. Unfortunately some places charge for stuff like
this which is sad. Hope you can get some good use out of these. Congratulations
on finding this webpage. Your hard work paid off so give yourself a pat on the
back.

Some useful links:
www.cdromworks.com - They have since changed their name to bullseyedisc to reflect the fact that they do more then
just CDROMS. They are located here in
www.amaray.com – What can I say, I like their
cases. But, problem is you have to go through a distributor to get them.
www.nexpak.com – Nexpak
is the distributor for Amaray and a few other brands.
Plus, is they reside on the West coast for fast service. They can do it in
whatever color you want for a decent price. The down side is you have to order
a minimum of 10,000. The up side is you can have a product with a unique color.
I expect us to do a golden orange brown for our next DVD, if anyone wants to
buy a couple thousand for a good price let me know.
www.polymatrix.com – I haven’t used or
talked to any at this company. They are on the East coast.
www.rossellis.com/client/en/home/home.asp
- Perhaps the best printing in the industry and at very cost effective prices.
The CDROMWORKS people may even use them for you if you ask. If you don’t have
anyone to do the printing already consider this company.
www.stickerguy.com – Everyone likes
stickers. This guy does a great job. I’ve had several stickers printed by him
and he always does an excellent job. I’ve got one on my car that is about 8
years and is starting to fade/wear a bit but it is still sticking. Has a little
bit of a long lead time though. So plan ahead.
www.modernpostcard.com – Need a post
card? These people do the absolute best job. Hand down. I doubt anyone can beat
their quality and pricing. I’ve had three different postcards printed by them.
One set even got stolen and they turned another set of cards in 3 days without
an extra charge. Highly recommended. They have very
detailed instructions and you’ll have your postcards in less than two weeks
including printing and shipping.
www.dolbydigital.com – Work with them
to get your DVD certified so you can place the “Dolby Digital” on your DVD.
There is a couple week lead time. Dolby will provide you with a license
agreement (no fee), fonts, and even a trailer if you want to use it.
End of text
for now. I’ll be back to update it someday.
